Connecting Culture through Activities and Experiences — Learning and Inheriting Culture in Daily Life
Our school introduces children to Chinese culture through a wide range of hands-on experiences, including festivals, classic stories, traditional food, traditional crafts and everyday cultural practices. Through participation, children develop respect, appreciation and a sense of belonging, while also enhancing language expression, creativity, concentration and cooperation.
2025–2026 School Year
This year’s Chinese culture activities focus on festivals, classic literature, traditional food, herbal wisdom and Lunar New Year customs. Through authentic experiences of seeing, listening, making, performing, playing and tasting, children learn about Chinese culture and build cultural confidence and a sense of belonging.

Through lanterns, mooncakes, Hanfu and qipao costumes, and parent-child activities, children experienced the reunion and blessings of this traditional festival.

Children took part in group photos, parent-child lantern DIY, an eco-friendly lantern design competition, Mid-Autumn balloon twisting and a Mid-Autumn evening gathering. Through these activities, they learned about traditional customs such as moon appreciation, carrying lanterns, reunion and sharing blessings. Dressed in qipao and Hanfu, children took photos with lanterns, the Jade Rabbit and moon-themed decorations, appreciating the beauty of Chinese clothing and festive culture.

Children learned about the relationship between mooncakes and the Mid-Autumn Festival. They observed the ingredients, moulds and steps, and under teachers’ guidance, kneaded, pressed and completed their own mooncakes. Through taste, touch and hands-on practice, children learned about traditional festival food.

Activity Content
With the theme of Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China, children enjoyed drama performances such as Tang Sanzang and Sun Wukong, Borrowing the Plantain Fan Three Times and Outsmarting Red Boy. They also joined different game booths to experience classic episodes, character traits and story scenes from the journey.
