Connecting with the Community · Caring for Others · Building a Better Life TogetherAt Lick Hang Kindergarten, we value children’s connection with the community. Through environmental action, intergenerational activities, festive visits and community outreach, children learn care, respect, gratitude and civic responsibility through real-life experiences, while developing a sense of belonging to the Mui Wo community.
2025–2026 School Year
This year, children extended their learning beyond the classroom through a variety of community activities. By taking part in environmental action, visits and festive outreach, they learned to care for the community through meaningful actions and understood that everyone can bring positive changes to people and the environment around them.
Mui Wo Improvement Works – Environmental Community Activity: Upcycling Plastic into EcoBricks to Build a Green Walkway in Mui Wo
Activity Highlights
Children and their families collected different household plastic items and passed them to the engineering team for upcycling. The plastic waste was turned into EcoBricks and used in the paving works of the Mui Wo walkway. Through taking part in a real community project and environmental action, children experienced the practical meaning of “reduce, reuse and recycle”.
Activity Objectives
To help children understand the importance of sustainable development and resource reuse, and to realise that small actions in daily life can bring positive changes to the community environment. The activity also nurtures environmental awareness, civic responsibility and care for the Mui Wo community.





Intergenerational Sports Day
Activity Highlights
Elderly members of the Mui Wo community were invited to school to take part in interactive games and simple physical activities with the children. Through the games, children cooperated with the elderly, greeted them and encouraged one another, building joyful intergenerational experiences.
Activity Objectives
To promote intergenerational harmony and help children learn to respect and care for the elderly. The activity nurtures polite, friendly and helpful attitudes while strengthening children’s social skills and teamwork through shared games.





Visiting the Elderly at the Community Centre
Activity Highlights
Children visited elderly members at the community centre, greeted them and shared blessings. Through performances, conversations or small activities, children expressed care and learned to show kindness to others through real visiting experiences, while feeling the connection between people of different ages in the community.
Activity Objectives
To cultivate children’s empathy, courtesy and spirit of service. Children learned that caring for the elderly is not limited to festivals, but can also be shown through simple acts of love and respect in daily life.



Sharing Lunar New Year Fai Chun and Blessings
Activity Highlights
Before Lunar New Year, children brought Fai Chun into the community and shared New Year blessings with neighbours, elderly members and community members. The activity extended festive culture learned in class into real-life settings, encouraging children to greet others and express good wishes with confidence.
Activity Objectives
To help children learn about Lunar New Year traditions and the culture of blessings, while nurturing gratitude, sharing and care. Through interacting with community members, children also developed their language expression skills and confidence.







Sharing Christmas Decorations with Love and Blessings
Activity Highlights
During the Christmas season, children went into the community to share handmade or school-prepared Christmas decorations with neighbours and community members, spreading festive blessings, joy and warmth.
Activity Objectives
To help children learn sharing, care and gratitude, and understand that festivals are not only for celebration but also opportunities to care for others. The activity also encouraged children to reach out to the community and develop a friendly, giving attitude.




2024–2025 School Year
Through festive outreach activities, children went into the community to express care and blessings to different people, learning to turn moral education from the classroom into meaningful real-life actions.
Sharing Dragon Boat Festival Sachets
Activity Highlights
During the Dragon Boat Festival, children shared sachets with community members and sent festive blessings. The activity helped children learn about Dragon Boat Festival customs while practising care through action.
Activity Objectives
To help children understand the traditional cultural meaning of Dragon Boat Festival sachets, cultivate gratitude, sharing and care for the community, and build confidence in communicating with others during the giving process.
